Zoom is a video conferencing app, and if your are planning on staying indoors and working from home its actually the best time to try out its amazing feature.
Many have deemed it fit to keep social distance because of the coronavirus pandemic, and zoom can tend to that.
Perhaps though, you don’t want anyone to see your messed up bedroom, or your living room doesnt look so appealing. Well no worries. You can change your background to absolutely anything.
You could video call from home while on the beach in the background. And wouldnt it be fun to video conference from outer space.
How To Change Your Zoom Background On Desktop App
Just make sure to meet the right requirements for your desktop and you are good to go.
Step1: In the Zoom app, click on your profile at the top right corner
Step 2: Click on settings.
Step4: Choose from the default background options provided. It includes an outer space scene. You can choose it by clicking on it, and it will automatically change your screen as well.
Note: If you would like to upload a photo to use as your background image, then on the same virtual Background page, click the + icon next to where it says Choose Virtual Background. A box will pop up allowing you to upload a photo from your computer.
To get rid of any photos you upload, tap the X in their top left corner.
That said, lets move on.

Using Zoom In Your Browser
Did you know?
You can actually join a zoom meeting in your browser without having to download the app.
Yes, zoom does have a zero download option but it seems to hide it so people download the app instead. Not to wory though. A browser plug-in is now available that lets you use zoom in the browser.
This plug-in will really be of help during the coronavirus pandemic, because alot of people have suddenly been forced to work from home where they may be using locked down corporate laptops that don’t allow them to download apps.
The software was developed by Software engineer, Arkadiy Tetelman who is currently the head of appsec/infrasec for US mobile bank. He was’nt quite happy with zoom hiding the join via browser option. So he put together this nice little browser extension that redirects any meeting links to use Zoom’s browser based web client.
It kills me that Zoom intentionally hides the “join from your browser” link, so here’s a small (20 line) browser extension that transparently redirects Zoom links to use their web client:
Arkadiy Tetelman said on twitter;
For now, the extension is available for Chrome and Firefox. Currently, submissions are listed as pending for Opera and Edge.
As others have noted, it still remains possible to perform a redirect manually, by adding your meeting ID to a Zoom web client link.
Whether you are using the zoom app to get in touch with friends and while away the time or just working from home, its amazing feature is surely something to try out.
